What is the VG pathway?

Located in the heart of Lausanne, École Vinet welcomes students in the Secondary General Track (VG) from Years 9 to 11. This programme consolidates core knowledge while introducing students to the professional world. It emphasizes practical skills, teamwork, and the development of a concrete career plan. Supportive guidance, active learning methods, and high academic standards foster autonomy, self-confidence, and prepare students for thoughtful post-compulsory education choices.

All students follow the VG Level 2 curriculum. In line with the Vaud and Romandy educational plans, École Vinet’s enhanced programme ensures a solid and coherent education, opening pathways to apprenticeships, specialized training, or, depending on the student’s profile, further studies.

Flexible pathways

Students can move from the General Track (VG) to the Pre-Gymnase Track (VP) over three years, depending on their development, abilities, and aspirations.

Teaching tailored to the needs of the VG programme

At École Vinet, the General Track combines high standards with a hands-on approach to spark curiosity and a love of learning. In Years 9 and 10, teaching emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, project-based pedagogy, and learning through interactive activities, making lessons engaging and participatory. Core subjects (French, Mathematics, English, and German) are taught in separate classes, while secondary subjects are taught in mixed groups. Small class sizes allow for attentive, personalized guidance, helping each student build confidence and reach their full potential.

In Year 11, the programme becomes more academically focused to prepare students effectively for the end-of-school assessments. Emphasis is placed on consolidating knowledge, individualized support, and exam preparation, while also guiding students in their choices for vocational or academic pathways.
