185th anniversary

The school proudly celebrates 185 years of history and commitment to education.

Alexandre Vinet (1797–1847), a visionary theologian and educator, founded the École Supérieure de Jeunes Filles in 1839 on Rue de la Madeleine in Lausanne, under the patronage of the city authorities. With semi-official status, it was the very first institution to open the doors of secondary education to girls in the canton of Vaud. Over the years, École Vinet has continued to play a leading role in the development of education in the region. For nearly two centuries, it has successfully prepared its students to enter the professional world or continue their studies.
For a school, such a long-standing presence requires constant adaptability and innovation. École Vinet has met this challenge with passion, providing students with a strong foundation to thrive in adult life and find their place with confidence in an ever-changing world.

Governance

The École Vinet School Association

École Vinet is a non-profit association: all of its resources are fully reinvested in the quality of education, student development, and the well-being of the school community. The association plays a key role in the life and growth of the school. It is made up of the school principal, members of the school board, teachers, parents, as well as former students or parents who continue to actively support the institution.

The association ensures the smooth running of the school, both organizationally and financially. It supports the administration in strategic planning and actively contributes to the school’s long-term sustainability. Thanks to the diversity of its members, it brings forward concrete ideas and initiatives to improve school life and promote student well-being.

Members of the association meet, in particular, at the annual general assembly, a key moment for discussion, consultation, and decision-making. They also contribute their professional expertise to the benefit of the school and its students, strengthening the connection between the educational community and the professional world.
