Guidance after the VG or VP programme.

At the end of lower secondary school, students are supported in their transition to post-compulsory education. The goal is to build a coherent and realistic plan, with the support of the teaching team. Possible pathways include:

Entry into upper secondary school (Gymnase), either in the Maturity track or at the School of General Culture (ECG)
An apprenticeship in a company through the dual training system (CFC)
A RAC bridging class, enabling access to the Gymnase
Other vocational training programmes or specialized schools
Career development

Assessment and skills testing.

To help each student build a concrete career plan, the guidance counselor provides tools that allow them to reflect in a structured way on their choices and gain confidence:

Aptitude, skills, personality, and interest tests to identify strengths and areas for development
An individual career assessment to define areas to explore and refine their plans
Ongoing guidance and support throughout the recruitment process

Exploring careers

To help all students explore their interests and refine their career choices, regardless of their track, several hands-on experiences are offered throughout the year:

Visits to professional events

such as SwissSkills or career fairs

Observation internships

in companies, recommended in 10VP and mandatory in 10VG, to gain early exposure to the professional world

Company visits

and meetings with professionals to discover different careers and sectors

Presentations on post-compulsory pathways

and available options for students and parents in the final-year classes

Active support for application files.

For students seeking an apprenticeship or wishing to join a vocational school, the school supports them at every step:

Writing CVs and cover letters

for internship or training applications

Preparation for interviews,

whether in person or by phone

Tracking applications,

following up, and providing guidance for any required tests

Communication

Families and School: An Ongoing Dialogue

Parents are fully involved in the career guidance process. The school informs them of key steps, organizes regular meetings, and takes their perspective into account, while also supporting the student’s growing independence.
