École Vinet opens a new 9VP class for the 2026 school year

When the new school year begins on the 19 August 2026, École Vinet, a private school in the heart of Lausanne, is opened a second 9th-grade class on the pre-gymnasial track (VP). Across the two classes, 9VP1 and 9VP2, around ten places are still available for new students in a close-knit setting.

Why did École Vinet open a second 9VP class?

Demand for the pre-gymnasial track keeps growing, and the existing class reached its maximum of 18 students. Rather than enlarge that class at the expense of the quality of support, École Vinet has chosen to open a second one. This reflects the school's philosophy: giving every student the chance to reach their potential in the right conditions, whichever class they join.

A programme in line with the Plan d'études romand

Students in both 9VP classes follow the same programme, in line with the Plan d'études romand (PER) and the Vaud curriculum. Every secondary subject is taught to the same high standard, to develop the skills needed for this demanding track. To find out how orientation into the pre-gymnasial track works in the canton of Vaud, our dedicated page answers families' questions in detail.

Small classes for closer support

It is precisely this limit of 18 students per class that led to the opening of the new 9VP class. At École Vinet, small classes allow every teacher to really listen, follow each student's progress and adjust their support throughout the school year. It is an advantage the school has cultivated from primary through to the end of secondary, and it remains at the heart of this new class. This close support continues beyond lessons: students facing a temporary difficulty can also attend academic support sessions outside class hours.

Admission requirements and available places

Around ten places are available in this new class. No deadline has been set so far, but as places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so interested families are encouraged to get in touch soon. Full details of the admission process for the pre-gymnasial track, including the school record, are available on our admissions page, along with the fees for the pre-gymnasial track.
